WAAMH congratulates the Mental Health Commission on the release of the Action Plan 2011-2012 to implement Mental Health 2020: Making it personal and everybody's business.

We note the Commission's commitment to its partnership with WAMMH and the community managed mental health sector.

In particular, the following areas in the plan have particular relevance for the Sector:

  • 100 homes for people discharged from hospital
  • Specific populations
  • Legal service for mental health consumers
  • Preventing suicide
  • Support to WAAMH for workforce development
  • A high quality system

WAAMH will continue to work on the promotion of the role of the Sector within this reform agenda. WAAMH will assist in communicating a clear message that the Sector has a key role to play in providing recovery-focused individualised supports that contribute to keeping well and out of hospital.
